Background
In 1897, a group of like-minded entrepreneurs came together with a shared ambition – to create the finest whisky in the world. They raised today’s equivalent of £20 million and began to make their vision a reality. Tamdhu whisky is exclusively produced in its Speyside distillery and matured in the finest Oloroso sherry casks.
Requirement
As part of the Tamdhu safety improvement programme the distillery embarked upon an update of its functional safety systems.
HFL was requested to support Tamdhu in this process due to its experience of functional safety within the Scotch Whisky Industry.
Our Response
HFL and Tamdhu entered into a collaborative agreement which enabled HFL to provide consultancy support along with training for the Tamdhu management, operational and maintenance teams.
The support included:
• HAZOPs,
• LOPAs
• FS Management Plan
• SRS Data Sheets
• SIF Review
• Design modifications for compliance
• Proof Test Procedures
• FSAs
• Training
Result
Tamdhu has updated its functional safety systems to meet the demands of BS EN 61508 and has satisfactorily completed an HSE surveillance audit .
“Having a team of professionals that know our industry and responded quickly to our functional safety requirements was key to the success in strengthening our process safety knowledge and performance”
