What is your greatest achievement inside of work?
Being seen as an open and reliable colleague to go to for support. Part of teams that delivered growth to the business and efficiency by streamlining and eliminating non value adding activities.
What is your greatest achievement outside of work?
Enjoyed a decade as a successful horse racing breeder, although maybe not financially!
What are the things you have done at Haden Freeman that you are the proudest about?
Help create a positive work environment and culture where we experience low churn rates of personnel. And guide the company through the challenging COVID period.
What is your best working memory?
The confidence from working & successfully delivering an international, multi-discipline ERP project.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Learn to delegate more, freeing time up for the strategic management rather than need to micro-manage.
What do you consider your greatest strengths?
Probably patience, although my colleagues might dispute this.
What is the favourite part of your job?
Seeing strategy and planning come to successful fruition.
What has been your favourite holiday destination?
A trip to Japan soon after university and a tour of Africa are highlights.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work
My family are rugby mad, so the Six Nations are always in the calendar.
What motivates you to come to work each day?
My wife’s shopping addiction.
What was your worst job interview and why?
Haven’t really failed an interview, but graduating during a recession saw many firms going through the mechanism of interviews but no jobs.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
As the finance guy , calculations are already done as to how much would it would take to bring forward my retirement. But travel and providing for my disabled brother in law would be at the top of my priorities.

Who inspired you to make you want to pursue your career within engineering industry? Any previous line managers and directors who have supported, mentored and advanced my career are reasons why I hold the position I have today.
As a kid what did you want to be when you grow up?
Before I realised I had no ability, I would have been any type of sportsman.
If you was to give your younger self some advice what would that be?
Listen & learn from a good mentor. Don’t plan too far ahead, you never know what the future will bring. I could never have predicted my path.
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 Years?
Don’t plan too far ahead. It would be nice to see HFL strategy realized and have developed the next generation of managers.

Sipping sundowners on the Zambezi river.
